MOST COMMON PROBLEMS:
1. If you are experiencing slowness on your PC..
1. Might be that you have an old PC. You need at least 1.0 Ghz, nowadays with a new version of Windows and applications. To check, right click on your "My Computer" icon, click on Properties, it should say on the General tab on how much CPU speed you have. 2. Might need more memory. Nowadays, you will need more than 256 mb. To check, right click on your "My Computer" icon, click on Properties, it should say on the General tab on how much memory you have or call the tech support of the manufacturer of your PC.
3. Might have SPYWARE. Go to http://www.ewido.com to get a free scan of your computer for spyware and remove the infections.
4. Might have a virus. Before you buy a computer you need to make sure it comes with Virus Anti-Protection software (such as Mcafee, Norton...), if not purchase one and make sure you update it often for latest viruses.
5. Might be that you're still on DIAL-UP. You need to get DSL or Cable modem high speed internet.
6. Increase your virtual memory. Right click on your "My Computer" icon, click advanced tab, performance, settings, under virtual memory, increase to the max size, click set. If it's on the max size already, you would need to add additional memory. Check with the manufacturer if you can still increase your physical memory.

2. Lost a file?
If you were on word, excel or powerpoint and your system crashed due to a power loss or some
other issue, you can still recover your file. If the system is still bootable, Microsoft
Word, Excel and Powerpoint has a recovery feature that when you forgot to save a file due to
a crash, you can just open up MS Word again and the file will show up on the left side
indicating that there was an unrecovered document. Click on the document to recover.
If you still don't see it, files that were created and not saved will be saved in a temp
file. Searh for *.tmp file and look for the last date and time you created the
document/file.

3. Error message "Device not found or unrecognized device name ..."
Check if you have a floppy disk in your floppy drive. Remove the floppy disk and reboot
system. (Hold the power button to shutdown and power back on)
If the problem persists, your hard drive is most likely bad, pls. check with your
manufacturer.

4. When entering passwords, it keeps saying either the username or password is
incorrect.
Most people forget that they have their caps lock ON on their keyboard. If your password is
all lower case, you need the caps lock OFF. The password is case sensitive.

5. To repair Windows 2000, XP,..
Make sure you have kept the Windows Operating CD that came with your computer. Place this in
the CD rom drive, boot/run it on the CD by hitting any key when it asks you to.
Blue screen will come up and will start the process. You will be asked to hit enter to
install Windows, hit enter, this will find the previous version of Windows, if it finds it,
you're in luck. Hit "R" for repair. This will take 30 mins or longer, depends on the speed
of your PC. If it doesn't find it, then you will need to install the OS again from the CD.
You can ask the manufacturer of your PC(Dell, Compaq) if they can help you slave (connect as a second hard drive on another computer) your hard drive to copy your
data. Hope this helps.
Good Luck!!
